Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has commissioned the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (PS-DMCMA) Pharma-Grade Warehouse and launched the Plateau State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (PLASEMSAS).

The state-of-the-art warehouse, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will serve as a cornerstone for sustainable healthcare infrastructure, ensuring the availability of essential medicines and vaccines across the state.

The facility which is an effort towards advancing universal health coverage
features a cold room, modern forklift, pallets, mini-quality control laboratory, and a drug information center.

Governor Mutfwang speaking during the commissioning in Jos said his administration’s dedication is to improving access to quality and affordable healthcare, citing the initiative as a symbol of unity and determination towards a healthier future for Plateau citizens.

He commended the the Executive Secretary, PS-DMCMA, Pharm. Kim Jerry Bot, for his unique leadership in the health sector as well as putting the state on the map as a leader in healthcare initiatives

According to him PLASEMSAS aims to provide prompt, efficient, and accessible emergency medical services, eliminating financial barriers during critical situations. Six new ambulances were procured and delivered to support this initiative.

The Governor expressed gratitude to key individuals and organizations, including international partners, for their contributions to the successful realization of the projects.

The Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, commended the Plateau State government for the feat, adding that the establishment of the Plateau State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (PLASEMSAS) started with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the state and the federal government.

The Minister who was Represented by the Permanent Secretary Ms Kachollom Daju said it was a significant milestone to revolutionise healthcare delivery in Nigeria, adding that it equally demonstrated the positive commitment of the administration of President Bola Tinubu and renewed hope agenda of the health sector through the Nigeria health sector renewal investment initiative.

Pate said Plateau State stands out as “this is the first warehouse to be commissioned; the journey for this started with the signing of the MOU between the federal government and the Plateau State government.
