Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state says a total of 1000kms road projects are presently being constructed Hy his administration across the state,and that out of that number, 400km are federal roads.
The Governor made this public while performing the groundbreaking of 118 kms roads construction of 3 roads project in Kontagora.
According to Governor Bago “The road projects include the reconstruction of the 90km Kontagora-Rijau road, the construction of the 19.4 km Kontagora Western bypass Ring-Road and the 8.7 km Kontagora Eastern bypass Ring-Roads”.
He explained that the Kontagora-Rijau road reconstruction will is be carried out by Triacta Nigeria Ltd while the Western and Eastern bypass Ring-Roads will be handled by Brosini Nigeria Ltd.
He said, “the reconstruction of the Kontagora-Rijau road has been approved by the Federal road as it is a trunk ‘A’ road. The Federal government has also given a nod to the state for the reconstruction of the 41km dualization of the Kakkaki-Minna road and 91km Rofia-Borgu roads which are all Federal roads”.
Bago described Kontagora local Government Area as central in Niger North Senatorial District and a centre of Commerce pointing out that good road infrastructure will improve the movement of goods to other places.
He said that the Contractors for the projects were carefully selected based on their track records adding that they would be put on their toes to deliver standard projects.
Senator Representing Niger North and former Governor of Niger state , Senator Abubakar Sani Bello as well as the Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji in their separate remarks described Governor Bago’s efforts as highly remarkable expressing confidence that the road projects will open up Kontagora town for development.
