Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding press freedom as a cornerstone of democracy and good governance.
He made this known during the Eyewitness Newspaper Annual Lecture and Award Series 2025 held in Lafia, the state capital, with the theme: “From Vision to Legacy: Governor Abdullahi Sule’s Holistic Development and the Imperatives of Continuity in Nasarawa State.”
Represented by the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, Governor Sule emphasized that the media remains a vital partner in promoting transparency, accountability, and civic engagement. He assured that his administration will continue to provide a free and enabling environment for journalists to operate responsibly.

“Our administration has consistently engaged the media as a bridge between the government and the people — encouraging open dialogue, constructive criticism, and factual reporting,” the governor stated.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Lamus Rayyanu, commended Governor Sule’s leadership style, describing it as visionary and development-driven.
In his keynote address, the former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Timothy Anjide, lauded the governor’s legacy projects across education, youth empowerment, infrastructure renewal, and human capital development. He also called on the governor to heed the “clarion call” of the people of Nasarawa North to continue his impactful leadership.
Mr. Anjide noted that Sule’s governance philosophy rests on five central pillars: respect for human dignity, economic diversification, infrastructure renewal, human capital development, and good governance.

Among awardees were Dr. Faisal Shuaib, former Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (represented by Hon. Abdulhameed Kwara), Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu, Chief Medical Director of FMC Keffi, and Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi.
Publisher of Eyewitness Newspaper, Donatus Nadi, expressed gratitude to Governor Sule and other stakeholders for their consistent support.
The event’s highlight was the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities, including Governor Abdullahi Sule, Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I (Rtd.), Mr. Joseph Attah, former Customs Controller, and Agbawu Mek Agbawu, recognized as the Best Performing Chairman 2025.
