The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has announced plans to screen Kefas Julius Bala, newly appointed Auditor-General of the state, following a request from Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, read the governor’s letter during Monday’s plenary, directing the nominee—who hails from Karu Local Government Area—to submit 30 copies of his curriculum vitae ahead of the screening scheduled for Wednesday.

In another development, the House has advanced the bill to amend the Nasarawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES), paving the way for the creation of the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Agency (NAYEA).

The Speaker revealed that the bill, sponsored by Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki (Lafia Central Constituency) aims to formalize the agency’s operations, enhance staff welfare, and incorporate skill acquisition programs that will empower personnel to contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.

According to Dr. Jatau, twelve recommendations were adopted in the committee’s report, with the bill slated for its third reading and final passage on November 26, 2025.

Similarly, lawmakers deliberated on two bills proposing to name the Government House Banquet Hall in Lafia after the late Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma, and the Presidential Lodge after Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura. The Speaker committed both bills to the House Committee on Works for review, with reports expected on November 24 and 25 respectively.

During the plenary, the House also observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Senator Solomon Ewuga, a pioneer Deputy Governor, former Minister, and elder statesman, who was laid to rest at the weekend.
