As part of activities marking the 5th year on the throne of the paramount ruler of Mama Chiefdom a football competition is being organized in his honour by various youth groups in his domain.
In the opening match which featured Jimiya Football Club versus Yashi-Turkwan saw Jimiya FC defeating Yashi Turkwan FC 4-2.
The football competition which has eight teams participating is taking place at Kwarra central football field at Kwarra, the headquarters of the Development Area.
In the first five minutes of the competition, Jimiya football Club netted two goals against Yashi Turkwan.
However, after intense pressure from Jimiya Football Club, it yielded positive results as they were able to add two goals making four.
This prompted the Yashi Turkwan FC to intensify efforts which paid off as they were able to score two goals.
Speaking before the kick off, the Gom Mama Alhaji Mustapha Bala Zubairu Adams said it was to strengthen Unity among communities in the area and called for a fair play.
The paramount ruler of Mama Chiefdom said the such competition should be organized annually assuring of his support at all times.
The former Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism Yakubu Abdul Hamid maintained that the competition will help in harnessing youths potentials.
