The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nasarawa State Command, has concluded plans to introduce a Best Driver of the Year Award as part of efforts to promote road safety, discipline, and compliance with traffic regulations among motorists across the state.

The State Sector Commander, CC Yahaya Sabo Adikwu, disclosed this when he received the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali, during an interactive session in Lafia.

Adikwu explained that the initiative aims to reward exemplary drivers and inspire others to adopt safer driving habits in line with global best practices. He noted that the Command will work closely with stakeholders to identify deserving drivers and raise awareness on responsible road use in both the private and commercial transport sectors.

He emphasized the need for drivers to always obtain valid documents and adhere strictly to road safety measures to prevent accidents and sanctions.

Acknowledging the vital role of the media, Adikwu described journalism as one of the most noble professions, urging journalists to continue supporting the FRSC in promoting public enlightenment and safety campaigns.

In his response, NUJ Chairman Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali commended the Sector Commander for his proactive leadership and assured him of the Union’s partnership in amplifying the Corps’ activities through robust media coverage.

Alkali congratulated Adikwu on his appointment and expressed confidence that his background in journalism would further strengthen the collaboration between the media and the FRSC for improved service delivery.
