The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Akwanga Unit Command has embarked on a rigorous campaign to reduce road crashes in Nasarawa State.
Speaking during the campaign on Tuesday in Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA), Unit Commander Byencit Ndam-Gambo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the FRSC and community leaders to curtail road crashes.
She added that the initiative was part of their effort to achieve zero accidents in the area by promoting a safer and more responsible driving culture among residents.
“To achieve this goal, the FRSC has been engaging traditional, religious, youth, and union leaders in crucial discussions.
“Recently, we held meetings at the palaces of the District Head of Akwanga, Chief Anthony Yamusa, District Head of Wakama, Chief Adams Makka-Nangba, and Gwaje District Head, Mr. Kasimu Kpabai.
We also held sensitization at mechanic workshops, motor parks, and market squares, and we interacted with various unions and groups in the streets of Akwanga.
The sensitization campaign will extend to worship places, parks, transport unions, markets, and streets in Akwanga and surrounding areas.
By engaging with community leaders and promoting a safer driving culture, the FRSC aims to significantly reduce road crashes in Nasarawa State.

She identified overloading, speeding, dangerous overtaking, and disregard for traffic rules and regulations, among others as major causes of road accidents in the country.
She called on motorists to support the corps on the campaign by obeying traffic rules to ensure their safety during this period.
The theme for 2024 camping is “Speak up against dangerous driving; crashes kill more passengers than drivers.
The Unit commandant also appreciated Jeremiah Umaru, House of Representatives Member representing Akwanga/Nassarawa-Eggon/Wamba, for always supporting them to ensure the success of their campaign of saving lives. (www.krestnews.com).
