A book titled FOREVER written by a veteran Journalist and administrator, Mohammed Ohitoto Hussein has been unveiled to the public at a public launch today Saturday, September 7.
Speaking at the public unveiling and launch which took place at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Hall, Chairman Keffi Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Mohammed Baba Shehu has stressed the need to prioritize research development in Nigeria.
Shehu also reiterated the need for scholars and wealth individuals to invest in education to promote scholarship and human development.
He said the occasion is highly significant as it would give an insight in the search for knowledge and served as panacea to critical issues that hitherto are hindrances to the progress of the country.
Hon,Baba Shehu observed that research and publishing go hand in hand ” I am not unaware of the serious problems facing Nigeria academics in the area of research. No country has ever progressed without a serious commitment to research in social, scientific and technical fields.
“These commitment is manifested largely through the allocation of vast resources, financial and material, to individual researchers and research institutions ” He pointed.
He described the author of the book as a committed, hardworking and discipline individual.
Going down memory lane, Shehu said Ohitoto was one year ahead of him in their secondary school days at Government College Keffi in 1983,added that in the course of studies, Ohitoto served as a tower prefect.
“And we all stayed in the same compound, the famous Kaduna House and being my senior I have learnt from him the virtues of respect, discipline, hard work and humility.”
The Keffi council chairman commended the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for making education a topmost priority in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, recognizing the fact that education is light and remains an imperishable investment.
“That is why ,as Chairman of Keffi LGA, and in spite of the meager resources at my disposal, my administration has added value to the growth and development of the education sector.”
Some of the interventions include the provision of ten thousand customized exercise books to pupils of public schools, two hundred set of desks and donation of science laboratory kits to both senior and junior students of G.C.K among others.
