Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has called for optimal use of the tractors purchased by the state government by ensuring effective deployment all year round.
The Nasarawa state governor also warned that they must be tracked, their locations and monitor what work they are being used for.
Engr. Sule who spoke during a presentation meeting with officials of Mahindra Tractors India, charged the commissioner of Agriculture who has been part of the meeting to monitor the deployed tractors closely.
He said farmers in Nasarawa state must take advantage of all the initiatives and gestures of government to massively improve agricultural production.
The governor and his team during the neeting asked questions on technical issues which he said was” to ensure we do not worsen situations by acquiring technology that is unsuitable and expenses for our kind of agriculture and level of development.
The meeting also came to an understanding about technical model and support that will ensure tractors repair is brought closer to the farmers in their respective areas of operation.
This, the meeting added, is in addition to deploying technology in solving some of the challenges that affects both farmers and herders.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary and circulated on verifiable government platforms recalls that Engr Sule has been in India on the invitation of Mahindra & Mahindra, said to be the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume.
The statement quotes Governor saying the meeting has afforded the team the opportunity to assess some advanced production techniques and quality control to improve efficiency across crop value chain.
Mahindra, a company founded in 1945 reportedly has presence in 50 countries across the six continents.
