Corps Commander Lucia Samuel-Mhii, Nasarawa State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned proprietors of Driving Schools in the state against sharp practices.
The sector commander gave the warning in her opening remarks at a capacity building workshop for proprietors and Instructors of Driving Schools on Wednesday in Lafia.
Samuel-Mhii noted that the exercise was in compliance with the directive from the Training Department of FRSC Headquarters, Abuja to conduct mandatory training for owners of driving schools across the country.
She explained that operators of driving schools must ensure that applicants undergo full training before being given permission to go for test and thereafter acquire driving licence.
The FRSC boss in the state also said that applicants must not be allowed to stay at home or offices while their names were being uploaded into the system by proxy.
“Fellow the right channel because compromising the process will produce negative results and increase crashes on the highways,” she added.
She highlighted that the current state of affairs on the road is a direct result of the actions or inactions of the driving schools.
“The drivers on the roads are products of these schools, and their contributions to either the reduction or increase in crashes should be a matter of concern.
“Pay close attention to the lectures and to apply the knowledge gained to make our highways safer for all road users,” the sector commander added.
Mr Sunday Egwu, Acting Chairman of Nasarawa State Driving Schools Association of Nigeria while speaking appreciated the management of FRSC for building their capacities and said the exercise was apt.
He therefore promised to implement what they had learned at the workshop with a view of producing qualified and certified drivers.
Krestnews reports obtained from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shows that 22 out of the 45 driving schools across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state participated at the training. (NAN).
