Dangote Foundation has on Wednesday, April 10 carried out the distribution of assorted grains to people that are vulnerable in all the electoral wards of Doma LGA of Nasarawa State.
The distribution exercise which is being coordinated by Centre for Women, Youth and Community Action, NACWYCA, a Lafia based non governmental organization, was formally fagged off by the Chairman of Doma, LGC, Architect Ahmed Sarki Mohammed.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman commended Dangote Foundation for partnering with the Nasarawa State in providing support to the poorest of the poor in the local government.
The local government administrator called on the Foundation to see the need of developing a strategic partnership with the State Government in the overall development of the State economically.
He said the gesture will go a long way to compliment the various efforts being put in place by the federal and subnational government to address the issue of hunger and high cost of living occasioned by the removal of oil subsidy in the country.

Architect Sarki used the moment to call on the people to have faith on the economic policies of government, saying in a short while Nigerians will have cause to smile.
And to the beneficiaries, he urged them to make good used for the grains to feed their families so as to cushion the effect of the current economic challenges and to avoid the temptation of selling the items.
He commended NACWYCA specifically for excellent coordination of the distribution exercise and called on others partners engaged in the distribution exercise to take a cue.

Speaking in an interview with the media at the venue of the flag of ceremony, Andoma Islamiya Primary School, Doma, the coordinator of the distribution exercise and Chief Executive Officer of NACWYCA, Dr Nawani Aboki said the exercise is targeted at addressing the issue of high cost of living among the poor and vulnerable in the society.
Dr Aboki who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, disclosed that the effort of Dangote Foundation is also being supported by the administration of governor Sule with the provision of additional grains to reach more people.

He explained that the exercise is covering 1,400 poor in 10 Wards of Doma LGA,most of whom he said are the aged, widows, orphans, and those with some forms of disabilities.

A cross section of the beneficiaries interviewed like Salamatu Sani, an aged woman, Usman, Suleiman,a cripple; and Rakiya Ibrahim as well Sani Omaku, blind man and Safiya Usman another aged woman are all full of gratitude to Dangote Foundation for the gesture and prayed that God bless the gesture for reaching out to the poor and the vulnerable.

The said the gesture will help to ameliorate the pains occasioned by the current economic hardship.
Krestnews reports that the beneficiaries were happy especially that the distribution coincided with the Eid’el Fitri celebration as they say it will go along way to supplement their purchases of food stuff for the festivity.
