The Kaduna Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a remarkable 98.79% increase in revenue collection between January and November 2024, amassing a total of ₦28,404,099,930.73.

This figure marks a significant leap from the ₦14,288,006,824.04 collected during the same period in 2023.

This achievement was disclosed in a statement by Superintendent of Customs, Ridwan Yusuf, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Area Controller, Comptroller Tijjani Abe, in Kaduna on Friday.

According to the statement, the Command set a new revenue milestone in November 2024 by generating over ₦4 billion in a single month for the first time in its history.

He said ,the revenue generated during the period came from three major sources namely Import Duty ₦14,147,496,714.00,
Excise Duty: ₦6,257,546,641.13,
Fees and others ₦7,999,056,575.06.

The statement also highlighted the Command’s efficient management of key facilities, including three excise factories Leaf Tobacco and Commodity Nigeria Limited, Nigerian Breweries Plc (Kakuri and Kudenda), Seven-Up Bottling Company and the Inland Dry Port in Kakuri, Kaduna.

Comptroller Tijjani Abe attributed the Command’s success to strategic initiatives introduced by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, and his management team.

He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of sister agencies, including the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security operatives, in supporting the Command’s operations.

Abe reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining its momentum, enhancing revenue collection, and fostering a trade friendly environment within its jurisdiction.(www.krestnews.com)
