Crisis has erupted in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the appointment of Suleja Local Government party chairman in Niger state.

Krestnews reports that the party in the local government has been enmeshed in crisis for long resulting from the sack of its former chairman, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim

It was gathered that the replacement of Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim by Idris A Nana by the State Working Committee of the party has further deepened the crisis following his rejection by stakeholders from the local government.

Checks revealed that the stakeholders operating under the umbrella of APC Suleja Local Government Stakeholders Forum, consisting of eminent individuals has registered a protest to the state leadership of the party demanding for the removal of Idris Nana because he is not the popular choice.

In the protest letter rejecting Idris Nana sent through the Zonal Chairman, Niger East Senatorial District of the party simply known as Zone B, Honourable Walijoh Danladi Ahijoh, the forum argued that there is a better and more popular candidate to replace Gambo Ibrahim instead of imposing Idris Nana as the party chairman in Suleja LGA.

The Zone B Chairman of the party, Walijoh Ahijoh insisted that the decision of the party is supreme, adding that the forum is not an organ of the party recognised by its constitution and therefore not in position to dictate to the party.

He said, ” The former chairman Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim was removed on disciplinary grounds, therefore the people who decided to line up with him cannot dictate to the party on the appointment for his replacement. They don’t have the constitutional right to do that and we have made this known to them severally “.

However, the sacked chairman Gambo Ibrahim has threatened to sue the state executives of the party to court to challenge his removal as the Suleja LGA Chairman of the party.

Ibrahim, in a statement issued in Suleja said, “I want to state here that I will be challenging my illegal removal as the substantive APC chairman of the suleja local government by the SWC in a court of law. Because Idris Muhammad B. Nana appointed by the party is presently under suspension from his ward, Bagama Award. Therefore, his appointment is illegal because they didn’t comply with the constitutional provisions of our great party”.
