Trouble is reportedly looming over in Dari ruling house in Kokona LGA over alleged manipulation of the selection process by some unnamed government officials.

The allegations is being raised by the Kuturi Kunka Ruling House, who is accusing some government officials of government, individuals and group for allegedly manipulating and sabotaging the selection process into the Dari stool to suit their personal and selfish interests.

It would be recalled that the stool of Sangarin Dari, became vacant following the demise of late Joseph A. Angulu, who ascended the throne after the death of the first Sangarin Dari, Madaki Yanki, who hails from Kuturi kunka Ruling House.

The ruling House while addressing Journalists in Lafia Tuesday, alleged that the State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs was involved in the manipulations independently to stall the new Sangarin Dari from matrilineal instead of patrilineal heir apparent to the exalted stool.

One of the prominent sons of Kuturin Kunka Ruling House, Prince Engineer Lawrence Ada’a Dari who spoke at the briefing, appealed to the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, to intervene in the matter and ensure that the appointment of new Sangarin Dari follows due process to avoid planting seeds of discord within the chiefdom.

Prince Engineer Lawrence, who is the Yariman Dari and also a contestant for the vacant stool, explained that the late Sangarin Dari was not an heir apparent from any of the three ruling houses, as such the previous mistake should not be repeated by the government.

“All we, as the Ruling House and in particular Kuturi Kunka Ruling House are saying is that government should give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. We have three ruling houses and the late Joseph A. Angulu, doesn’t belonged to any of the he ruling houses.

They alleged that the immediate Chief was imposed on the people by those they described as government officials.

According to the ruling houses, “we foresee the same processs repeating itself after his death that is why we are calling on the governor and other relevant stakeholders to intervene and ensure that the rightful person is install in the interest of peace in our chiefdom”.

“We are calling on the Governor of Nasarawa State, Kokona Local Government, the member representing Kokona East Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Hon. Daniel Oga Ogazi, His Royal Highness, Abaga Toni, Lawrence Ayih, Sangari Amba HRH. Martins Kure Abeshi and all authorities concerned in this matter to look at the ownership of the vacant stool, it’s not maternal. It is a taboo and discretion of our traditional institution” they declared.

On his part, Prince Elijah A. Aso, a contestant in the race for the vacant stool, together with his elder brother, accused the immediate commissioner of education in the state, John Mamman, of shopping for those who are not from the royal families to contest for the vacant stool of Sangarin Dari.

Reacting to the allegation, John W. Mamman, admitted that he is not from any of the royal houses of Dari chiefdom and he is not in the race for Sangarin Dari.

“I am not in the race for Sangarin Dari, because I am not from any of the royal families, but as a critical stakeholder, I have a say by advising on how things can be done and the way it should be done” he said

According to him, Engineer Lawrence, has lost contact with his people and he does not know the history of the royal families, that’s why,

“Lawrence is saying the late Sangarin Dari, Joseph Angulu, is not from any of the three ruling houses?” Mamman questioned.

On his part, Hon. Raphael Dogara Sa’aka, a former member of the state assembly, dispelled rumours making the rounds that he is also in the race for Sangarin Dari.

He called on all the contestants to the vacant stool to always get in touch with their people with a view to achieving the desire development of the chiefdom.
