The National Council of Traditional Rulers (NCTRN) has tasked Nigerians to priorities the unity of the country and continue to work towards ensuring that its remains one indivisible entity.
Alh. Muhammadu Sa’ad-Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the council made the call at an occasion to mark the fifth anniversary of Retired Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed, Emir of Lafia on the throne on Saturday in Lafia.
The Chairman of NCTRN said there were problems in every country and succession is not the solution to the challenges confronting the country.
He also called on Nigerians to always pray for their leaders to succeed as they are human beings and they need support and prayers.
The Sultan however appealed to leaders at all levels to expedite action towards addressing the economic and security problems bedeviling the country.
“We know that our leaders are trying, but the people are in a hurry to see positive changes that will renew their hopes for a better life,” he said.
The Sultan explained that the presence of traditional rulers across the country in the state was a demonstration of unity and urged other Nigerians to emulate the traditional rulers.
“We are showing the whole world that royal fathers in this country are united, just look at the list of traditional rulers from the six Geo-Political Zones that honoured the occasion.

called on members of the general public to always provide credible information about the activities of criminal elements to the security agencies and pray for leaders to succeed.
“When we keep quiet about the activities of criminals in our areas, we are inviting problems, so we should continue to enlighten our people to work with security agencies as traditional rulers,” he urged.
In his goodwill message, Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State welcomed the traditional rulers from across the country who had graced the occasion.
The governor also congratulated the Emir of Lafia who doubles as the Chairman of the State Traditional Council on his 5th Anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.
Sule expressed gratitude to the Emir and the entire traditional rulers in the state for the relentless support to his administration since assumption of office in 2019.
He therefore, promised to redouble his effort toward improving the infrastructure and welfare of the people of the state.
Responding, the celebrant expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and his people for their support to him in the last five years.
He also appreciated his colleagues and other well meaning Nigerians who came from far and near to celebrate him and expressed optimism that the country would remain united as one.
He therefore, wished them safe journey back to their respective destinations.
The dignitaries at the event included; Sultan of Sokoto, Shehu of Borno, Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja 11, Aku Uka of Ukari, Emir of Kano, Sarkin Bauchi, Emir of Zauzau, Etsu Nupe, Lamido of Adamawa and the Emir of Biu among others. (NAN).
