The Community Initiative for Character Moulding and Entrepreneurship Development (CICMED), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has trained 50 youths on entrepreneurship skills to fill the developmental gap in Nasarawa State
The training which had participants from Nasarawa, Kogi and Plateau States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, was supported by the Bala and Ladi Angbazo Legacy Foundation (BLALF).
The three-day training called the ‘Future Planters Entrepreneurship Boot Camp 2024’ took place in Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday, Mr Kefas Tigga, Executive Director of CICMED said that it was aimed at equipping the participants with the requisite knowledge to tackle the challenges of unemployment and restiveness in the country.
He added that the organization had been running various entrepreneurship programmes since 2019 to facilitate and support community participation and engagement of the youth and women.
He explained that the group was seeking social justice to ensure the inclusion of youths and women in the decision-making process based on the knowledge they have to contribute to the system.
“We have designed very rich programmes, clusters events, and services by community interest and needs as well as advocacy methodology to achieve effective results.
“All these is meant to stimulate greater investments and promote entrepreneurship as a viable career option for the participants to make them self-reliant,” he added.
The Executive Director further said that their organisation would facilitate soft loans to the entrepreneurs and build a strong network where experts would assist them to succeed.
On his part, Mr Nuhu Angbazo of Bala and Ladi Angbazo Legacy Foundation, said that the most important resources an entrepreneur needs to succeed are knowledge and the right mindset.
He explained that an entrepreneur would succeed in whatever choice area if he or she is dedicated and hardworking and has adequate knowledge with the right mindset.
He advised the participants to adopt a never-give-up spirit as a principle in life if they want to go far in their endeavours.
He therefore promised that the Angbazo Foundation would continue to partner with CICMED and other partners to support widows and other vulnerable groups in society to alleviate their suffering.
The training featured presentations from experts on different areas and questions and answers from participants. (NAN).
