The Borno State First lady, Dr Falmata Zulum has said that investing in the future of the Nigerian child means providing them with quality education, healthcare, nutrition, and safeguarding them from violence, exploitation, and harm.

She made the assertions while speaking during this years children’s day ceremony held in Government House Maiduguri with hundreds of children and parents assembled to witness the occasion.

She however hinted that under the visionary leadership of Governor Babagana Zulum, the administration is deeply committed to investing in the future of children of the state.

Dr Falmata noted that significant strides have been made in enhancing access to education, healthcare, and essential social services for children throughout the state.

This is because, “they continue to learn, play, and dream amidst adversity, showcasing remarkable strength and optimism.

” As the bearers of our future and the promise of a prosperous Borno State, it is imperative that we create an enabling environment and opportunities for them to flourish and realize their full potential.

” On this auspicious day, let us reaffirm our dedication to ensuring that every child in Borno State is empowered to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our collective future. Together, let us build a brighter tomorrow for our children and create a legacy of hope and opportunity for generations to come.

“The initiatives undertaken by the Zulum administration, such as the construction of New Mega Schools, renovation of existing ones, provision of free textbooks and uniforms, and the introduction of school feeding programs, have significantly enhanced access to quality education and nutrition for our young ones.

” Moreover, substantial investments have been made in healthcare infrastructure, medical supplies, equipment, and the training of healthcare professionals to ensure that our children receive the best possible care.

” In addition to these vital efforts, the Borno State Government is actively engaged in fostering a positive mindset among children, addressing negative behaviors, and shielding them from vices, violence, and other harmful influences.

” As parents, it is incumbent upon us to promote positive parenting practices and raise awareness about the imperative of safeguarding our children from exploitation and harm. While we have achieved notable progress, there is still much work to be done. It is essential that we continue to collaborate as a unified force to create a future where every child in Borno State can thrive and flourish.” Said Falmata.

The event brought children, parents and stakeholders to unwind and also review children’s rights and other issues as it concerns their well being.

It was a fun-filled atmosphere as performances such as traditional dances, drama and spoken words among others thrilled the audience.
