Rev. Fr. George Shenge, Perish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Church Ombi 1 Lafia has called on Nigerians to renew their vows to God and do good things that would promote peaceful coexistence in the country.
The Clergy who made the call in his homily on Sunday at the church, said that the vows made to God by adherence of various religious is expiring and the people have forgotten their commitment and are doing things contrary to their promises.
Fr. Shenge explained that every Nigerian irrespective of his or her religion should turn to God in truth and spirit in the face of the economic, social and security problems confronting the nation for sustainable solutions.
He explained that if leaders and followers would do things that would pleased God almighty, the situation of the country would be changed for good.
He added that God is the only solution to the country’s problems adding that it is not magic, people should just decide to do the right things at all times.
The Padre also called on the people on the personal lives not to give up, but trust that God is capable of turning things around for good at whatever point when they truly believe in him.
He said that even if it is the office, school, business or relationships that people are facing challenges and have given up, God can still help them.
“Is it admission that you are looking for for years or job you are seeking or even business that is not doing well, just trust in God and see his wanders in your life,” he added.
He also reminded Christians that the Bible says that sin against persons would be forgiven, but the sin against the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven.
He advised Christians to desist from making blasphemous statements such as ‘my situation is too bad as such I will not pray again to avoid the hanger of God’.
He said that the people were experiencing the greatest existential challenges due to harsh economic and social conditions.
He explained that life is like a book with many pages and chapters, therefore, people should never give up on God because the Holy Spirit have the capacity to renew every situation.
The readings were taken from Acts of Apostles 2:1-11, Galatians 5: 16-25 and John 15:26-27 and 16:13-15 respectively. (NAN).
