The Catholic Bishop of Lafia, Most Rev. David Ajang, has urged Nigerians to prioritise consuming edifying content that promotes moral values and spiritual growth.

Bishop Ajang made this appeal on Sunday during a homily at St. Augustine Quasi Parish, Ombi One, Lafia, as part of his three-day pastoral visit to the parish.

He emphasised the importance of being mindful of the content people consume, whether through books, social media, television, listening to speeches, or other forms of media.

Ajang noted that the constant exposure to negative and immoral content can have a corrosive effect on individuals and society as a whole, leading to a decline in moral values and a breakdown in social cohesion.

The bishop encouraged Nigerians to seek out content that inspires, educates, and uplifts, such as religious programs, educational documentaries, and literary works that promote positive values.

He also reminded the faithful that as Christians, they have a responsibility to be discerning about the content they consume and to promote positivity and uplifting messages.

The Bishop also ordained five deacons and confirmed 180 faithful, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journey.

A deacon is a member of the clergy who has been ordained to serve the Church and assist bishops and priests in their ministries.

The sacrament of confirmation is one of the seven sacraments and a significant milestone in a Catholic’s spiritual journey.

During the ceremony, the bishop laid hands on the candidates, anointed them with chrism oil, and urged them to continue to be active members of the Catholic Church throughout their lives.

The pastoral visit to the parish is aimed at strengthening the faith of the local Catholic community and promoting a sense of unity and cooperation among the faithful. (www.krestnews.com).
