The Kaduna State Government has reiterated its commitment to tackling youth unemployment and advancing human capital development through strategic partnerships and skills driven initiatives.

This assurance was given by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Mrs. Patience Fakai, at the 2025 Jobberman Kaduna Career Fair held on Saturday at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Kaduna.

The event with Themed “Meet Connect Get Hired,” the fair brought together over 1,000 job seekers and more than 100 employers offering immediate and future employment opportunities.

It is the second edition of the fair, following a successful debut in 2023, which recorded 1,496 participants and led to over 300 job placements.

Mrs. Fakai described the event as a vital platform that connects young talents with employers, turning dreams into achievements and ambition into meaningful employment.

“This event is not just a career fair; it is a testament to our commitment to fostering innovation, growth, and prosperity within our community,” she said.

She noted that addressing the challenge of youth unemployment requires a holistic and collaborative approach and emphasized the need for all stakeholders including employers, training institutions, and career placement bodies to actively support and implement integrated employment strategies.

The Commissioner praised the ongoing efforts of Gov. Uba Sani in transforming Kaduna into a national hub for skills development through the construction of three world class Vocational and Technology Skills Acquisition Cities across the state’s three senatorial zones.

“These centers will play a pivotal role in equipping our youth with the skills required for the modern workforce and align with the Governor’s SUSTAIN agenda for human capital development,” she added.

Mrs. Fakai urged employers present at the fair to invest in young talents and support initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

She commended Jobberman Nigeria and the Mastercard Foundation for sustaining the career fair initiative and bridging the employment gap in Nigeria by creating platforms for job matching, mentoring, and skills acquisition.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports ,highlights of the 2025 Career Fair included one on one interviews between job seekers and employers, panel discussions, mentorship sessions, and the unveiling of new job centres that will provide ongoing career development support.

A special focus was also placed on increasing female participation in the workforce in line with the State Government’s gender inclusion agenda.

“To our young job seekers, this is your opportunity to showcase your skills and take steps toward securing your future. Your success contributes to the growth of Kaduna State,” the Commissioner added.

The Kaduna Career Fair, held in partnership with the State Government, Jobberman Nigeria, and the Mastercard Foundation, continues to position Kaduna as a front-runner in youth empowerment, job creation, and economic transformation.(www.krestnews.com).
