The National Examinations Council ( NECO) has released the 2024 Senior Secondary School Examinations ( SSCE) finding 40 schools from 17 states to have been involved in whole school ( mass) cheating.

Releasing the results on Thursday in Minna, the Registrar of the Council, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi said that the management of the schools involved in the examination malpractices will be invited for discussion after which appropriate sanctions will be applied.

He said, ” one school from Ekiti was recommended for derecognition for mass cheating in two core subjects and 01 Science subject”.

Professor Wushishi explained that 21 Supervisors were recommended for blacklisting during to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, extortion and negligence in 12 states.

He said however explained that the total number of candidates involved in malpractices in the 2024 examination reduced to 8437 as against 12030 in 2023.

Overall performance of candidates, according to the Registrar, the candidates with five credits and above including English and Mathematics is 828 284 representing 60.55% while 1147 597 representing 83.90% got five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.
