The Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced a new Minimum wage N80,000 for Niger State Civil servants.

The Governor discloses this shortly after meeting with the Organised Labour in the State in Government House, Minna.

He announced, “The payment would be for both the State and Local Government Civil Servants, effective from November, 2024, adding that the Committee on the Minimum Wage will work on the consequential adjustments”.

The farmer Governor assures that the N80,000 is sustainable, especially with the State’s strides in Agriculture.

He calls on Civil Servants to embrace Agriculture as Civil Service farms would be created to make them productive.

Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Niger State Chapter, Comrade Idris Abdulkarim Lafene expresses delight with the State Government’s approval of N80,000 New Minimum wage describing Niger State as one of the top ranking States to implement the new minimum wage.

Comrade Lafene said, “the decision of the State Government as a step forward, adding that the Union looks forward to an improved offer.

He appreciates the Farmer Governor over the development, stating that the Union had tabled between N70,000, N75,000 and N80,000 as Minimum Wage for the State.
