There is a new and interesting development following the arrest of an 80-year-old plus man behind the kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism in Ekiti, Kwara, and Ondo State, Olowofela.

Olowofela’s arrest has been, unfortunately, misunderstood for a namesake who completely shares the same name with him, and, unfortunately, spent childhood together.

Krestnews reports that Friends and relatives of the innocent Olowofela are said to have raised concerns about this development.

Accordingly they have been calling his phone to confirm if he was truly the one arrested for the insecurity menace that has, in recent times, led to the death of three monarchs, two in Ekiti and one in Kwara State.

The real Olowofela according to Krestnews source revealed that the arrested Olowofela had squatted at his father’s house in Lagos and that he left their house after stealing his scholarship award in 1969.

The real Olowofela alleged that the arrested Olowofela, after completing the scholarship study in Germany, on arriving in Nigeria changed his name formally from his real name, Olowofila, to the stolen name, Olowofela.

The real Olowofela is quoted as saying: “The suspect is a High Chief, and 3rd in rank to the Oba of Igbara-Odo.
“A former honorable of Ondo & Ekiti House of Assembly (Philip Banji Olowofela) is of questionable character because his actual name was Olowofila but he changed it to Olowofela because he stole my Scholarship award in 1969 (awarded to me by Western Nigeria to study in Germany while I have already traveled to USA).

“He used to live in my father’s house then in Lagos & was working at ECN and later known as NEPA.

“He stole my scholarship & traveled to Germany to study Engineering as Segun Olowofela & upon arrival from Germany he changed his name to Olowofela from his maternal name Olowofila, the real Olowofela is quoted as saying.

“I wanted to sue him but lawyers & my father/family members said anybody can bear any kind of name they want to be called ( that the law permits it). So I left the issue alone.

“Now, that nemesis has caught up with him, more than deserved, because God is always a good God & sinners will always be punished at the right time, he further said

“Philip Olowofela is about 80 years old and fraudulent historically & has been hiding under the umbrella of Honourable /Chieftaincies to commit many dubious atrocities throughout his life and has been getting away because he has money/influence.

“I think his pay time is up. May God deliver us from kidnappers and dubious people, especially in Ekiti State”, he prayed.
