No fewer than five (5) people have been killed following cholera outbreak in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State report says.
The Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Health, Doctor Muhammad Gana confirmed the report of the cholera outbreak in Minna.
He however declined comment on the figures of casualties while explaining that the Ministry has dispatched a team of health professionals with commodities to stop the spread of the disease.
It was however learnt that the situation is critical with apprehension that the disease may have spread to Paiko town in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.
A health worker who spoke with Blueprint on condition of anonymity, said four new cases have been reported in Paiko hospital.
He attribute the outbreak of the disease to lack of potable drinking water adding that, ” there no water in our facility the use of the patients.
However, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Doctor Muhammad Gana said that the ministry is yet to receive report of the outbreak of cholera in Paikoro Local Government.
He however advised people to pay serious attention to their personal and environmental hygiene because cholera is a Water and Sanitation problem.
