Krestnews reports from Kaduna says no fewer than 10 children have been fatally injured, as explosion rocked Kidandan Village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The report says the incident occurred Saturday afternoon, as children who had gone into the bush to fetch firewood and returned home with a strange object suspected to be Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Krestnews quotes the Village Head of Kidandan, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, saying that, “we thank God, there was no death, but 10 people were injured.

“The injured children have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Right now I am compiling their names,” he said.

He also said that, operatives of the Nigeria Police had visited the community as at evening Saturday.

Explaining what happened, the Councilor Representing Kidandan Ward, Hon. Abdullahi Ismail said the children picked the object in the bush where they had gone to fetch firewood and that they were bringing it home when it exploded.

“I was told the children picked the object in the bush when they went looking for firewood. It exploded and injured them badly,” he said.

Other sources from the community said, intestine of one of the victims was pulped out while others have their legs and arms broken.

Efforts to get the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan proved abortive as did not respond to calls put across to him for confirmation of the incident.
