Commissioner of information and internal security in Borno state, Prof Usman Tar has said that over N200 million has been proposed to resuscitate the Borno radio and television station (BRTV).

He said recently while making his remarks at the official take over of the Dandalkura radio station by the new station manager Bulama Yerima.

The Commissioner noted that even though the recent flood was a sad incident which destroyed properties in the station, it was going to become a blessing for brtv because N200m has since been approved for the resuscitation of the station by Governor Babagana Zulum.

Remarking further, the commissioner stated that he believed that the destiny of Dandalkura radio station has changed because the State govt went out to acquire it for useful purposes.

He stressed that with the new arrangements, Mongonu, Damasak and Biu radio stations will all have to align with the policy of the General Manager of the BRTV in Maiduguri who would be their operational arrow head adding that he is the eyes of the Government in all the out stations which is why station managers must submit to him.

He assured that the financial capture of staff salaries in the Government pay roles will soon take place even as they plan to spend about N2m on a monthly basis on the newly acquired station.

Prof Tar called on the new station managers to key into the 25 year plan and 7 year strategic documents of the Government of Governor Babagana Zulum if they must make progress in serving the residents of the state.

New station manager, Bulama Yerima responded by expressing appreciation to Governor Babagana Zulum for appointing him to the position to serve his people.

He noted that every member of his team was vital since all of them are there to contribute to the progress of the state.

“Late arrival and early departure is behind us. Those who choose to undermine us will face appropriate sanctions” he remarked during the occasion.

Yerima added that when they succeed they will do it together adding that “I promise to guide the team to where it should be accordingly. I am here to listen so we can operate as one big family”

He assured the management and staff that with the backing of the Governor, he will transform the station to where it should be from where it is now.

The former acting Gm Umar Tijani described the occasion as history in the making adding that the staff was grateful to the State govt for coming to the aid of the station at this auspicious time.

He also thanked the Commissioner for his hard work and drive to see that the occasion came to fruition.

Tijani expressed gratitude to the entire staff for cooperating with him while he served as acting GM of the station before the ultimate take over by the government.(www.krestnews.com)
