Bauchi state government In a bid to ensure quality health services in rural communities of the State has engaged 1,000 volunteers in community integrated healthcare services across the 323 wards in the state.
A statement issued by Adama Ibrahim, Chief Information Officer, Ministry of. Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management said the gesture is to boost the morale of the Volunteers.
As a result, she said the state government through the office of Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs donated the sum of N60m as palliative in recognition of their contributions to promote efficient healthcare service delivery.
The volunteer healthcare providers are deployed to the various health facilities across the state, especially in the rural areas where regular workers, employed by the state government were running away.
State Commissioner Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka on Friday, presented the cheque of the sum of N60 Million to the Ministry of Health for disbursement to the beneficiaries.
The cheque was received by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Misau on behalf of the Commissioner, Dr Adamu Sambo.
Hajara Yakubu Wanka represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Shuaibu Alhaji Muhammad said that the gesture was to appreciate the efforts of the volunteers for their services in all the healthcare facilities as their support to the effort being put in place by the state Governor, Sen Bala Muhammad.
The Commissioner further stated that as a result of this gesture by the Volunteers, the Governor approved the release of the fund to serve as palliative to improve the living standard of the volunteers.
Presentation of the Cheque of N60Million
She revealed that N10,000 will be given to each of the 1000 volunteers in primary and secondary healthcare centres across the state for a period of six months amounting to N60 Million.
While receiving the cheque on behalf of volunteers, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alhaji Abubakar Usman lauded the foresight of the Governor and promised to ensure equitable disbursement of the fund.
