The Bauchi State Police Command is partnering the State Government in addressing the impact of global warming by planting trees all through the police formations in the State.

This collaborative effort, according to the Police Commissioner, will see the planting of one thousand trees across various police formations under the command.

“This initiative underscores the Commissioner’s dedication to environmental stewardship and the proactive role that law enforcement can assume in community and ecological welfare”, said the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in a statement issued to the media on Thursday.

“By integrating tree planting into the operational framework of the police force, this initiative seeks to contribute to broader endeavours to combat deforestation and alleviate the impacts of climate change in the state”.

During the commencement of the tree planting campaign at the Police Officers Mess, the Commissioner of Police underscored the significance of the initiative, stating, “Our environment is a collective responsibility”.

“As a police force, we are committed to not only ensuring the safety and security of our citizens but also to preserving and safeguarding our natural surroundings. Through the planting of these trees, we seek to directly address ecological issues and serve as a role model for others.”

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmad Kawule, has while responding, commended the Commissioner of Police for his leadership and dedication to this cause.

CP Auwal Musa Muhammad highlighted the necessity of planting more trees in our communities to mitigate the impact of climate change.

He said: “To incentivize accountability and pride in the maintenance of these green spaces, the Commissioner announced that a state reward awaits any Divisional Headquarters that effectively tends to and nurtures the trees in their surroundings”.

The tree planting campaign, CP Muhammad explained, will encompass the State Headquarters, all Area Commands, the Police Mobile Force (10 PMF) Base, and the Divisional Police Headquarters across the state.
