Bauchi: New Commissioner Pledges To Reposition State Information Sector For Effectiveness

The newly appointed Commissioner of Information and Communication, Bauchi State Hon. Usman Shehu Usman Zirami has announced his plans to reposition the State Information sector to achieve effective Information dissemination and communication.

The Commissioner who was speaking at the formal assumption of office, charged management and staff of the Ministry to prioritize their statutory responsibilities and be proactive in the discharge of their official duties for effectiveness.

Usman Shehu pledged to foster a collaborative relationship with journalists in the state, stating the importance of accurate and effective dissemination of government policies and programmes.

He said that he will strengthen digital communication and the welfare of the Ministry’s staff to boost their morale and ensure better service delivery.

Usman said that he will also focus on capacity building for staff to equip them with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.

The commissioner reiterated his determination to do everything possible to support the state government by ensuring the proper dissemination of information of government programmes and policies, to secure the people’s buy in.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside such a dedicated and talented team.

“This Ministry plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the government and the people. Effective communication is not merely about disseminating information; it is about building trust, fostering understanding, and ensuring that the voices of our citizens are heard.

“To achieve this, I believe in the power of collaboration. I value each of you and your unique skills and expertise. I encourage open and honest dialogue, where we can share ideas, brainstorm solutions, and work together to overcome any challenges we may face.

“To fulfill the responsibilities of this office, I recognize the crucial need for collaboration. I seek the unwavering cooperation of all media professionals – journalists, media aides, and representatives from various media houses.

“Your professionalism, objectivity, and commitment to truth are invaluable assets in our journey towards a well-informed and engaged public.

“Furthermore, I extend my hand in partnership to all stakeholders within the media and communication sector. Your expertise and insights will be instrumental in shaping effective communication strategies and ensuring that the voices of our people are heard. The success of this administration hinges on the collective efforts of all stakeholders.”

He said “I am confident that through open and honest communication, we can build a stronger, more informed, and more prosperous Bauchi State.”

The outgoing commissioner Usman Danturaki congratulated Usman on his appointment and expressed desire and the entire Ministry staff’s readiness to support him and to continue to collaborate with him to succeed.”

The handover ceremony was witnessed by the management staff, head of agencies under the Ministry, friends, relatives ,PDP stakeholders from Giade Local Government Area and well-wishers.

Some of the management staff interview with our correspondent congratulated Commissioner Usman Shehu Zirami on his appointment and assured him of the management and staff’s cooperation in moving the ministry forward.

They also expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Abdukadir Muhammad for appointing a professional to lead a technical ministry like Information and Communication, stating that the right person has been chosen for the role. (www.krestnews.com).
