As scramble between Wikki Tourists Football of Bauchi and Nasarawa United of Lafia to occupy second qualifier after El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri for the Supper Eight in the NNL24 Conference C final, Wikki Tourists despite beating the host EFCC FCAbuja 4-2 on Saturday, hands up to Nasarawa United that forced Zamfara United to a 1-1 drow in a Match played in Sokoto same Saturday which gave Nasarawa United second qualifier in the conference to participate in the Supper Eight.
The Hon. Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development Bauchi State, Muhammad Salis Gamawa, while sympathizing with the team for not achieving their desired goal for promotion, urged all stakeholders in Wikki Tourists FC to be courageous and remain focus describing the situation as trail moment.
The Commissioner spoke while interacting with sports journalists shortly after the NNL 24 Conference C final Match against EFCC of Abuja,which fail short of giving Wikki Tourists the ticket for the super eight,
He Commended the Management of team, technical crew, Players, other supporting officials and supporters club for their contributions and commitment towards ensuring that Wikki Tourists return to NPFL particularly Bauchi State Government under the good sports loving Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, who despite the harsh economic situation in country, financed the team to logical conclusion of the conference.
The Commissioner was also at the players hotel to cheer the team up with some encouraging words and incentives asking them to take what happened in good faith and focus on the Federation Cup.
He said ‘We are not losers in this game but only that the Season did not favour us and because of that, i don’t want anybody to have any ill feelings or malice against each other but rather be more United and strong so that we don’t loose focus of what we should do next. Thank God we are not disgrace as we finished third, this is our destiny”. the commissioner said.
The Technical Adviser of the Club Azeez Audu Muhammad, while responding on behalf of his crew expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Government and the Commissioner for the Support to the team since the commencement of the league.
He then tendered apology to the good football loving people of Bauchi State for inability to get the super eight ticket and solicit for their understanding, praying that God in his wisdom will compensate the club with something equally good.
According to Coach Azeez, “I enjoyed every support, cooperation and understanding accorded to me by management, players, staff and supporters club to achieve what we have achieved”.
Meanwhile, Wikki Tourists FC captain, Idris Muhammàd Guda has tendered an unreserved apology to the Supporters of the Club for failing to grab the NNL Super Eight.
Posting on his verified Facebook page, the Wikki Tourists captain agreed that it was a painful situation considering the amount of effort put in place in the season for that purpose.
He added that the result will not deter them from continuing the fight until the target is achieved next season.
According to him, “We will never give up believing that one day God will make us proud by granting our wish,”
Guda urged the supporters of the club to consider what happened as the will of God as they have also done the same and continue to pray for the team.
“We plan, God plan and he is the best of all planners,” Guda added
