Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has applauded Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) for its commitment to academic excellence in all ramifications.
The Governor commended the Vice Chancellor and Management of the University on the occasion of the graduation of its first set of medical students.
In appreciation of the feat recorded, the state government would very much like to absorb the graduated medical students in a move to address the shortage of medical doctors in its healthcare facilities
Meanwhile the Overall Best Medical Doctor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU Bauchi Pioneer Medical students, Dr Khadija Muhammad Garba appeal to government at all levels to address the push factors making Nigerian trained doctors and other health care workers to seek greener pastures (Japa) in foreign countries.
Dr Khadija Muhammad Garba made the appeal after their induction by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria held at University campus Yelwa, Bauchi State.
Dr Khadija Muhammad said for there to be adequate medical workers manning the health institutions in the country, government must address the push and pull factors to include poor renumeration and working environment.
She said Nigeria has the potential to lead the African continent in the area of Healthcare delivery, hence the need for authorities to work towards attaining such status.
The Medical Doctor said her dream is to specialise in obstetrics and gynecology to see to the improvement in women and children health by reducing to the barest, maternal and infant mortality in the state.
Dr Khadija also used the medium to appeal to women to always visit hospitals when sick and heed to the advice of medical professionals to guarantee their wellbeing.
On what motivated her to achieve success in her academics, the 24 year old medical doctor said prayers and support from parents played leading role in her emergence as the overall best graduating student.
