Debutants Africano FC have booked their place in the group stage of the prestigious 1X Cup 2025, following an emphatic 2-0 victory over Team 360 on Wednesday.
Playing just their second-ever match in the tournament, Africano FC showed no signs of inexperience as they dominated proceedings from the onset. Their persistence paid off when Daniel Onyeka converted a first-half penalty, giving the team a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Team 360 returned in the second half more physical, but Africano FC maintained their composure and attacking flair. Their efforts were rewarded with a second goal from Damilola Mathew, who finished a swift counterattack to seal the win.
The victory followed their 5-1 demolition of Great Olympic in their debut game, propelling the newcomers straight into the money-spinning group stage.
Team captain Gabriel Ogunji expressed delight at the qualification, promising fans that the team is “bent on going very far and fighting for the trophy.”
