The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has called on women, to take advantage of the readily available immunization services at primary health centers nearest to them to vaccinate their children age 0-59 months.
This is contain in a press statement to commemorate the 2025 International Women’s Day.
Bauchi State focal person of AHBN Dr Hassan Musa Shuaibu said the network and the Bauchi State Government, is proud to highlight the pivotal role of women in achieving immunization equity and strengthening primary healthcare across the state.
Africa Health Budget Network states that these PHCs provides comprehensive range of vaccines administered by trained health health personnel and it’s also free of charge.
” By vaccinating their children under 5 years old they are protected from life threatening diseases,this year’s theme, IWD 2025 “Accelerate Action”, resonates deeply with our collective mission to empower women as champions of health and well-being within their families and communities”.
AHBN further noted that Immunization stands as one of the most cost-effective and impactful public health interventions, safeguarding children against preventable diseases and laying the foundation for a healthy and productive life. In Bauchi State, significant strides have been made in strengthening immunization services, as evidenced by the 2024 Bauchi State Immunization Financing Scorecard.
The scorecard highlights the state government’s commitment to allocating resources towards immunization.
“Women, as primary caregivers and decision-makers with crucial role in ensuring that children receive the full course of recommended vaccines. Their knowledge, attitudes, and practices significantly influence immunization uptake rates.
Recognizing this, the Zero Dose Learning Hub Nigeria, AHBN, and the Bauchi State Government are committed to empowering women with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions about their children’s health.
The Zero Dose Learning Hub Nigeria, AHBN, and the Bauchi State Government are committed to working together to address the remaining challenges and further strengthen immunization services across the state through Strengthening community engagement strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and promote informed decision-making and improving immunization financing through increase in budget allocation and release .
Other areas include enhancing data collection and analysis to monitor immunization coverage and identify areas for improvement and exploring innovative technologies to improve vaccine supply chain management and enhance immunization service delivery.
