The Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Bishop David Ajang, has asked Nigeria government to urgently address insecurity and high level of hunger in the country.
Ajang made the call while presiding over a Thanksgiving Mass held in honour of Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe which took place at the St Aloysius Catholic Church Doma, the headquarters of Doma LGA.
The Bishop said that addressing insecurity and hunger would not only promote peace but would also improve on the standard of living of the Nigeria people.
” This is a critical time. Security is a big problem , the second is hunger. I think something needs to be done.
“You see pockets of demonstration in some places is not for anything but because of hunger,” he said
The Bishop while quoting various verses in the Holy Bible said Christians and other Nigerians must shun evil acts in order to inherit the kingdom of God
He called youths and other Nigerians to desist from cybercrime known as Yahoo and other negative acts in order to inherit the kingdom of God and for the overall development of the society.
” Before, people were doing Yahoo secretly but today people are proud of doing yahoo. It has become a business,” the Man of God said.
He also advised Christians to worship only God while urging them to shun the act of worshipping the devil.
” Worship only the Lord your God and serve him only
” Have faith and trust in God for God’s protection, guidance, blessings and favour,” He added

He charged christians to always embrace the act of thanksgiving no matter their situations and conditions in order to get more God’s favour and blessings.
He assured the Deputy Governor and other leaders of prayers for God’s guidance in their affairs of governance.
Speaking during the service, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, the State Deputy Governor said that he has decided to organize the Thanksgiving in order to appreciate God for protecting and blessed him and his family.
” We are thanking God for so many things, for protecting not only my life but my family lives.
” To thank God for the protection of our leaders, President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, His Excellency, Gov Abdullahi Sule and other leaders,” he said
The Deputy Governor urged the people to continue to pray and support President Tinubu, Gov Sule and other leaders to succeed.
He further reiterated his call on the people of the State to continue to embrace unity and peace irrespective of their affiliations
Akabe disclosed that government has put up measures to tackle insecurity and hunger in the state and the country at large

The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau who also spoke at the special occasion, appreciated God for protecting the life of the State Deputy Governor and other leadersin the country.
He also used the moment to appeal the people of Doma and the state at large to continue to pray and support Gov Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
” Elections and litigations are over. It is now time for governance. Let’s all continue to pray and support His Excellency, Gov Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
The Speaker also urged the people to pray and give their maximum supports to leaders to succeed.
” All we needs is your support and prayers,” he said.
The Speaker assured of his administration’s commitment to provide all inclusive leadership to the people of the state.
Hon Jonathan Gaza, member representing Karu/ Keffi/ Kokona federal constituency; Hon Muhammad Oyanki, the Deputy Speaker of the State legislature, Dr John Mamman, the State Commissioner for Education among others appeal to the people to not only distressing continue to embrace unity and peace but to have faith in the administration at all levels for development to thrive.
They have assured of their readiness to support the church to succeed.
