A total of 65,000 Smallholder farmers in two states Niger and Kwara States in North Central Nigeria have been listed to receive high-quality seeds, fertilizers and agricultural inputs from One Acre Fund Nigeria as it flags off the distribution exercise on Thursday May 9, 2024 for this year’s cropping season.

The Communication Specialist, One Acre Fund Nigeria, Kazi Nanyah stated this in a statement issued to the media at the weekend in Minna,the Niger State capital.

He said “This event marks the commencement of our input delivery season, where we will distribute high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs to over 65,000 smallholder farmers across communities in Niger and Kwara States”.

The Communication Specialist further described One Acre Fund as a nonprofit development organization that supports smallholder farmers in
Nigeria by providing them with access to high-quality agricultural inputs, training, and financing.

According to hIm, “Since our inception in Nigeria in 2018, we have been committed to driving food security, ending hunger and
poverty by increasing farm productivity and improving the livelihoods of rural farmers. Our last-mile delivery approach ensures that farmers receive the inputs they need directly at their doorsteps, empowering them to thrive in their farming activities”.

“Through our Trees program, in 2023, we delivered 2.6m trees to 110,000 farmers in Niger state. We are currently setting up decentralized nurseries across
three states – Niger, Nasarawa and Kwara to distribute 6m trees to 220, 000 farmers this year”, he explained.

He explained that in efforts to reach more farmers and expand its impact, the organisation has scaled up operations beyond Niger State to include Kwara and Nasarawa states.

” It will provide an opportunity to showcase our commitment to supporting farmers and promoting agricultural development in Nigeria.

This growth signifies our commitment to reaching underserved farming communities and supporting agricultural development across multiple states in Nigeria”, she explained.
