The Nasarawa State Police has recorded a significant win in the ongoing fight against illegal arms proliferation, arms courier, and criminality not just in the state but in the North Central part of the country

This follows the arrest of a arrest of a 21 year old female, identified as Fatima Salisu, said to be a native of Funtuatown in Katsina State, North West, Nigeria with 481 rounds of Ammunition.

The police in a statement signed by the Nasawa State Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police simply reads:
“Police nabbed a 21 year old Female Arms Runner, recover 481 Rounds of Ammunition in Nasarawa State…

In a bold and precise security operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, I have arrested a 21-year-old female suspected arms trafficker in a mission that cut across key local government areas of the state.

It further disclosed in the statement that the operation was sequel to an intelligent report…”The suspect Fatima Salisu, a native of Funtua town in Katsina State, was intercepted at the Azuba area of Lafia while allegedly transporting a

haulage of ammunition through Keana and Doma LGAs, en route to deliver the consignment to criminals in Katsina.

The team, the statement said, acted with precision, leading to the recovery of 400 rounds of 7.62 x39 mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition.

The police PPRO disclosed that the suspect is their custody and undergoing rigorous interrogation as investigators work to dismantle the arms trafficking network and also trace its posslinks to armed banditry terrorism.

He used the medium to reiterate the State Command’s resolve to rid the state of crime and calls on members of the general public to continue to provide support to security agencies with timely and credible information.(www.krestnews.com).
