Agyema, a quiet community lies in the southern fringes of Doma Local Government of Nasarawa State

The town is inhabited by the Agatu speaking tribe of Nasarawa State. However there are other ethnic nationalities living and plying their vocations.

It is an agrarian community with about 90%of the population engaged in farming of both cash and food crops as well as fishing considering that the community is riverine on the Benue River Benue
Some of the food and cash crops cultivated in large commercial quantity are yam, rice, as well fish. There is also timber and columbite ore deposit.


Besides their agricultural potentials, the community is largely peaceful and hospitable to visitors and those wishing to visit the community to trade in commerce

On Wednesday, March 20,2024, this quiet community came awake as the roll out their drums to celebrate one milestone achievement in their lives.
This community had lived over the years without any good access road thus limiting their agricultural potentials.

Still on this day, Dr Nawani Aboki, Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi on Media and Publicity accompanied by prominent sons of the community led media team to the opening up of this agricultural rich community to the world through rural road construction by Governor Sule under the NG CARES fund.

Right Okpata, a junction town of Rukubi road, through the 18km road to Agyema, the people on the road could not hide their sentiments of joy and happiness and gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule for opening up the area and connecting them to the world.

Addressing the mammoth crowd of community people including school children,Dr Aboki expressed profound gratitude to the Governor to what he has done to him and his people by constructing the after many years.

He thanked the media particularly NTA Lafia for setting the agenda for the construction of the road, saying the construction of the road is made possible by NTA crew which reported the deplorable state of the 18k road which he said the State government accept to construct the road to link up the rich agricultural potentials of the area to the world.

A community leader, Mr Abari Nicholas Aboki, retired Head of the State Civil Service, expressed delight that the road had been constructed after 40years waiting and hope.

He thanked the governor for being so kind and considerate of his community, urging the people to in return support government so that more dividend of democracy could keep coming to the community.

Also speaking, Member Representing Doma South in the Nasarawa State Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Musa thanked the Special Adviser to the Governor for being the brain behind the road project and also used to commend Governor Sule for running an inclusive administration.

He equally appreciated the government for ensuring that peace and security in all parts of the State.

He informed the people that the road came as a result of the unity, their disposition to peace, their industry as well as their agricultural potentials and urged them to sustain such spirit moreso that that road has come and development will follow.

Another speaker and a community leader, the Senior Special Assistance to the Governor on Education,Sebu Emmanuel commended Governor Sule that security prevails the area, calling on the people to remain steadfast and to be peaceful.

Other speakers were the District Head, Ayuba Agwenyi and the Village Head, Godiya Ayitonu as well as the representatives of Tiv, Bassa and Fulani all expressed gratitude that at last the area has been linked up with easy access road.

The promised to be peaceful and united and also intensified agricultural production so as to attract investment to the community. They thanked the governor for finding their sons worthy of appointment into his cabinet and urge the appointee not to fail in their assigned duty posts.

The NG CARES State Coordinator, Umar Ibrahim Dahiru in an interview with the Media disclosed that the 18Km Okpata – Agyema Road is one of 26 rural access road being undertaking by the Governor Sule’s administration through NG-CARES special intervention fund.

He disclosed that the Agyema Road is one of two being constructed in Doma LG, stressing that the intention of the State is to create Access to areas with great agricultural potentials.

Umar said the road has 3 months completion, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and believe that the final work will be perfect.

Krestnews reports that the first phase of the work which gas reach 97% completion at the time of this report covers clearance; while the 2nd phase will construct the culverts, and define the gutters or drainage and dressing of the road.
