PDP Nasarawa Chairman Denies Endorsement Allegation, Urges Unity Ahead of 2027
By Alfred M. Akwe
The Chairman of the Nasarawa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Bako Ningha, has refuted claims of bias and premature endorsement within the party leadership, describing them as “unfounded and baseless.”
The allegations stemmed from a group known as the Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP Forum, Nasarawa South, which claimed a secret meeting held on July 10, 2025, at the residence of PDP North Central Zonal Secretary, Mr. Francis Orogu, resulted in the endorsement of an unnamed aspirant ahead of party primaries.
Mallam Jibrin Idris Ibrahim, spokesperson of the group, said at a press conference in Lafia that such action violates the party’s constitution, which mandates neutrality from party leaders before primaries. The group further demanded disciplinary action against Mr. Orogu.
However, Mr. Ningha dismissed the allegations, maintaining that no aspirant has been officially endorsed by the party, and the leadership is committed to providing a level playing field for all aspirants.
“Yes, a meeting was held by stakeholders from Nasarawa South at Mr. Orogu’s residence, but any endorsement done there was a personal decision by those present – not the official position of the party,” Ningha clarified.
He defended Mr. Orogu’s presence, stating that being from the zone, he neither convened the meeting nor violated any party rule, and thus does not warrant any disciplinary measures.
On his part, Mr. Francis Orogu denied organizing any endorsement meeting, dismissing the claims as distractions from “relatively unknown individuals” within the party. He added that PDP remains strong, despite recent defections.
“For every person leaving, others are scrambling to join. PDP is home for all who believe in democracy,” Orogu asserted.
He appealed to aggrieved members to remain, emphasizing dialogue over division:
“Leaving is a right, but resolving grievances is better. Let’s stay united for 2027.”
